Novartis Egypt partnered with two of Egypt’s foremost community organizations to celebrate the company’s worldwide Community Partnership Day. Nearly 250 associates worked with Al Nour wal Amal and the Egyptian Food Bank (EFB) to share hope with visually impaired girls and lend a hand in packaging food supplies for families in need.
“An annual company-wide initiative, Novartis’ Community Partnership Day is an opportunity to support important causes wherever we operate and a chance to showcase on-ground what we stand for, and strengthen the bonds that shape Novartis,” said Mahesh Karande, Novartis Pharma Office Head and Country President. “This year, marking our 17th Community Partnership Day, nearly 250 associates from the company's various divisions or sister companies including Novartis Pharma S.A.E., Novartis Consumer Health (‘OTC’), Sandoz S.A.E and Alcon Scientific Office in Egypt, volunteered their time and effort to honor our commitment to being a responsible company.”
‘Be their light for a day’ was implemented with al Nour wal Amal, Egypt’s renowned NGO providing support to blind women. Novartis associates beautified the organization’s fence with graffiti paintings sharing important messages; from slowing down to allow visually impaired women cross the street, to visiting the NGO’s showroom for fundraising. Volunteers also helped out the girls with their homework and in turn, were given an introduction to Braille. For a lasting impact, Novartis donated media players and audio books to entertain and educate the girls.
The second project, ‘So that every Egyptian gets enough’, took place together with the EFB, Egypt’s leading organization dedicated to fighting hunger. Novartis volunteers took their spots on the assembly lines and helped package over 1000 meals to be distributed to families in need.
